Kindermusik Foundations for ages 0 to 18 months, is for lap babies, crawlers, and walkers. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement.

Enrollment Includes:

  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum for parents and babies, ages newborn to 18 months
  • Class of no more than 10 babies with parents
  • 8-week unit (one theme) or 16-week semester (two different, 8-week themes) Weekly 45-minute class that includes new and unique parent and baby activities
  • At Home Materials for each 8-week unit—a literature board book and age-appropriate instrument, and music streamed on the Kindermusik App.
  • Learn over 30 songs, lullabies, and nursery rhymes and play over 200 activities together by the semester’s end.

Kindermusik Level 2 for ages 1.5 to 3.5 year olds,  encourages toddlers to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control, and communications skills. Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming, and object identification foster language skills, while creative movement to various musical “moods” develops a sense of balance, timing, and spatial awareness. Listening and turn-taking encourage blossoming social skills.

Level 2 classes reflect the emotional foundations of school readiness and the latest research on music and early childhood development. Attending Level 2 classes gives a unique opportunity for parent and child to interact and learn together in an unhurried and joyful manner.

Curricula Description:

For your toddler, every day brings new discoveries and opportunities to explore the world.  Despite a display of independence, the 1.5 to 3.5 year old child still longs for the safety and security of your parental closeness. During this time, toddlers still relishes the comfort of the familiar while also seeking the challenge of something new.

Kindermusik Level 2 classes encourage children to be creative, to initiate their own ideas and to respond in their own ways, while the parent's active participation gives the toddlers the security they need. Playing instruments, singing, moving, and exploring uncover an engaging musical world while building the toddler's confidence, self-control, and communications skills.

What a Parent and Child Will Experience in Class:

  • Instrument exploration and ensemble skill development — Your child will explore the physical characteristics and sounds of age-appropriate instruments which will eventually lead your child to discover his/her potential for beat, rhythm, melody, and ensemble playing.
  • Vocal play — Through vocal play, toddlers learn to form vowels and consonants, say words and phrases, and imitate rhythm and vocal inflection. In Kindermusik Level 2, vocal play is presented within the context of songs, chants, and activities done in class.
  • Exploration Time — Your child will love discovering specially designed instruments, textures, sounds, and movements.
  • Story time and early literacy — Listening to stories enhances language and speech development and fosters awareness of sounds, teaches use of language, and sends the message that words and symbols have meaning. The same experiences that help toddlers learn to read a book also help them learn to read music.
  • Movement Activities — Each class provides various opportunities for movement such as synchronized movement, group dances and circle games, and even expressive movement.

Kindermusik Level 3 for ages 3.5 to 5.5 year olds, is designed for active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative children.These classes encourage socialization, sharing, and participating in group activities.

Curricula Description:

What a Parent and Child Will Experience in Class:

  • Pretend Play — Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, listening, movement, and literacy aspects of each class. When based upon a child’s real life experiences, pretend play helps develop language, sensory, motor, and cognitive skills.
  • Musical Variety and Singing — Activities include a mixture of musical genres and styles and provide a setting for children to explore their many voices and to use a “singing voice.” Singing helps with memory and recall, physical development, creativity, and socialization.
  • Storytelling and Literacy — Each class is built on the development of a story, so you’ll hear preschoolers search for the word to say what they mean and try to keep up with their busy minds, emerging wants, needs, likes, and dislikes.
  • Parent Involvement — Preschoolers are learning to be self-sufficient in a group setting of peers, while many times still needing the emotional security provided by a parent. The preschooler experiences both in Imagine That!  Caregivers participate in the last 10-15 minutes of class. Plus the At Home Materials ensures the learning continues at home with each child’s best teacher—the parent!

  • Weekly 45-minute class includes a variety of activities: 30-35 minutes of children on their own with the educator, followed by a Sharing Time of 10-15 minutes with parents and siblings.
  • Class of no more than 8 children.
  • Each 15-week semester includes At Home Materials—a turquoise back-pack, a home activity book, two literature books, an instrument, and streaming of music on the Kindermusik App.

Kindermusik Mixed-Age Class for children up to 5  years old

This music-filled class celebrates the unique joys of your growing children. Each week your children will love singing, dancing, and playing instruments with you and their new friends and you’ll love helping them practice a wide variety of abilities such as gross and fine motor skills, turn-taking, social skills, and active listening. In class, we’ll also share tips and ideas for using music throughout the week. Plus, the fun (and learning!) continue at home with the home materials: 2 CDs, 2 story books, an Activity Guide and an instrument distributed every semester.

What Families Experience in Class:

  • Singing — From the first “Hello” song to the last “Goodbye,” exploring a variety of musical styles and genres leads children to find their own voice. Plus singing helps with memory and recall, physical development, creativity, and socialization.
  • Assorted Movement — Whether moving as a family, as a class, or as individuals, Family Time movement activities enhance coordination skills, create opportunities for imitation and exploration, and give everyone something to smile, rock, bounce, or dance about.
  • Story Time — Reading aloud to children stimulates their curiosity, expands their knowledge, and broadens their understanding of language.
  • Family Jam — Children as well as adults will love selecting a unique instrument and joining in one big class jam instrument play along session each week.
  • Musical Concepts — Fun engaging activities bring out the musicality in everyone, from the youngest member of the family to the oldest.  Families learn more about music as they learn more about each other.

Kindermusik Level 4 for 4.5 to 6 year olds

From the moment you became a parent, you wanted the best for your child. In class, we engage your child in music and movement activities that also promote language, social and emotional skills, early math and early literacy, physical coordination, creativity, and more. Plus, your child will learn basic music vocabulary and notation, all setting the stage for future school success and formal music lessons. Parents join the fun for the final activities. The Kindermusik@Home digital home materials, CDs and story books extend the benefits all week long with music from class, activities for the whole family, and each month’s story.

The Level 4 year  is followed by another 2 years of learning in Level 5 formerly Kindermusik for the Young Child

  • Singing and vocal development — It may sound like a foreign language when a child sings “ta” and “ti-ti,” but this is the language of professional musicians and composers and getting young children ready to read and write simple rhythm patterns.
  • Movement — See children dance expressively to music, giving them the practice they needs to coordinate their body movements to the sound of music. This kind of musical play not only improves musicianship, but physical coordination as well.
  • Reading and writing musical notation— Your child will learn rhythmic and melodic notation, learning to identify rhythm patterns and some pitches on the treble clef.
  • Focused listening — Children will learn to identify a range of orchestra instruments and their sound qualities, while also gaining an early awareness and knowledge of composers and masterworks in Western arts tradition. They will also explore music of different cultures.
  • Exploring and playing a variety of percussion instruments — Authentic percussion instruments expose children to the different  timbres (sound quality) and wide variety of instruments available around the world, and at the same time provide them with the opportunity to musically succeed before taking on more formal instruction.

Enrollment includes:

  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 4.5 & 6 years; caregivers attend the last 10 minutes of class.
  • 28-week program divided into four different 4-week themes
  • Weekly 45-minute class
  • Class materials include four sets of Move & Groove unit materials. Each 4-week unit comes with Home Materials - a story book, an instrument, and music streamed on the Kindermusik App.

  Formerly Kindermusik for the Young Child 

Kindermusik Musicians for 5.5 to 8 year olds, is the final curriculum in the Kindermusik programme. It prepares the young child who is eager for first experiences with musical symbols and pitched instrument playing without requiring the discipline and daily practice of formal lessons and traditional music reading with an instrument.

  • Reading and writing — Young children will learn melodic notation and identify pitches of the C major scale including F# and Bb on the treble clef, plus rhythmic notation. Eventually even composing their own music.
  • Focused listening — Children will learn to identify a range of orchestra instruments and their sound qualities, while also gaining an early awareness and knowledge of composers and masterworks in Western arts tradition.
  • Cultural Experience - Children are introduced to music from many cultures including European, African, South Pacific and South American.
  • Exploring and playing musical instruments — Authentic percussion, string (dulcimer), pre-keyboard (glockenspiel), and woodwind instrument (recorder) expose children to the many choices for future musical study, and at the same time provide them with the opportunity to musically succeed before taking on more formal instruction.

  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 5.5 to 8 years; caregivers attend the last 10-15 minutes
  • 30-week double semester
  • Weekly 60-minute class
  • Home and Class Materials — rhythm sticks, three instrument books (Glockenspiel for Year 1, Dulcimer and Recorder for Year 2), manipulatives, carrying bag, three instruments (a glockenspiel for Year 1, a dulcimer stringed instrument and a recorder are added in Year 2), and music streamed on the Kindermusik App.
